Correct nutrition is the key
Macro-nutrients: The correct balancing of your clients macro-nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, essential fats) will dramatically improve the results they will get from their training. It is therefore recommended that programs are implemented which allow you to assist your clients (or for them to assist themselves) to balance their macro-nutrient intake appropriate for the results they wish to achieve or for the sport that they are competing in.
Macro-nutrients however, only for 1/2 of the equation and these nutrients do nothing whatsoever to provide any benefit to the health of your clients, or to protect them from the damage caused by the increased levels of oxidative stress, general load stress, free radicals, systemic inflammation, immune system burden that occurs when training. It is not the job of macro-nutrients to protect the body and provide an optimal environment for performance. It is the job of micro-nutrients.
Micro-nutrients: Vital for all key functions in the human body and directly responsible for achieving, maintaining, and optimising all aspects of human health and performance. Everyone knows and hears all the time that they must be getting more fruits and vegetables in their diet every day, but no one really understands why. The delivery of more micro-nutrients is the reason why and when you really understand their role you won't allow yourself to miss out ever again.
These foods provide powerful natural antioxidants, and a plethora of phytonutrients which are all required by the body to function in peak condition. These nutrients must be in their natural form, in synergy with all the other nutrients found in whole food sources. The very existence of fruits, vegetables and berries is to provide these nutrients to nourish, repair, heal and protect and to promote optimal cellular health. In turn this naturally leads to optimal performance.
You cannot put life into a synthetic multivitamin pill: Synthetic multivitamins manufactured using cheap chemicals do not have life in them and they can never replicate Mother Nature. There are over 25,000 phytonutrients that have so far been discovered in fruits, vegetables and berries. The reason that they work so well in our body when we get them from whole food sources is because vitamins are not isolated substances, they are compounds. In order for these compounds to work, they must be taken in the correct balance and in synergy with all of the other phytonutrients occuring naturally in these foods.
You cannot put life into a synthetic, manmade vitamin pill and there is a growing body of current research which proves this to be the case. Forget the synthetic chemicals and stick to whole food sources for your micro-nutrients, the way Mother Nature intended.
